sysnab.ru: For a while you were exploring more mainstream movie options. Why did you decide to come back to porn?

Brent Corrigan: Right. After taking a year to myself, quietly considering a decision not to do any more adult [films], I finally did announce about 3 years ago that I did not intend to return to adult media. My decision to return this past January was not considered lightly, either.

 

I think we all get sick of adult stars talking about quitting, because they almost always come back. Most of us are wanted back, so when we return (with exception of some press and some blog troll queens) we are met with arms outstretched welcoming us. Not surprisingly, I think my return has been more of a rejoicing by the fans than the studios. Studios have never really liked me very much. Oddly enough, I'd say most don't like a self-made model turned producer. Also, I think a lot of people read my confidence and security in my sense of self as some sort of ego-mania or hubris. I won't cower and feign modesty just so people think I'm not "too confident". I am strong - of mind, character and even body (for a dude who's 5'7), so to act like I'm not feels like a betrayal. 

 

As for returning . . . I've cited it many times, but I returned because I truly got sick of constantly amending and rewiring who I was so that I could fit into the "mainstream" world. I invite people to and blog for a more comprehensive reason for why I returned to adult after a 4 year hiatus. I think people would be surprised to learn it wasn't because I was broke (royalties on my Fleshjack toyline have remained healthy enough throughout the years to solely support myself). Also, just launched a redesign and I'm so proud of it!

 

 

Of course, we're all happy to see you back in the XXX world. What is the one thing you would change about the industry if you could?

Do you want the Miss America Answer or the real one? Just one?!

 

If I could wave a magic wand and change anything I'd honestly end porn and media piracy once and for all. No one would/could consume unless it's gifted or purchased. The other thing I'd change is producers that think it's okay to under feed their models while they are responsible for them (during shooting) - or producers that do things like schedule scenes at 3-4 AM making it virtually impossible for even the most professional models to put their best foot forward. I was on a set once recently and I was appalled, with the resources and money behind that studio, at how abysmal the shooting conditions were for the models. Sleeping on the floor - doing scenes on blow up mattresses laid on the ground! Where's the grace in that? Where's the pride and value in the work?

 

My "Miss America" answer would be to put an end to all of the pressure to perform and film bareback. But who am I kidding, that will never happen now at this point in the game. Even if California puts an end to condomless production, the industry will move. It'll be a mass exodus, something that has already even begun for many studios with the threat AB 1576. California has no business losing tax revenue with their financial troubles (I could never figure out if the state was aware the kind of financial blood letting they were asking for with that bill). In the interim the market will buy elsewhere. Or US producers will just leave the business or leave the country. We have a tough enough time competing with the Eastern European studios and the TI's as it is.

 

Gosh, there is so much I might change. I'd "Magic Wand Away" Gay for Payers. Men taking good paying jobs away from those of us who are secure, proud gay men. We're the confident ones; comfortable with where we are in life and what we know we want.  But that's another topic entirely and I'm not ready to open up on that one yet. Everyone is tired of condoms and GFP. So let's just end piracy instead and I'd smile a whole lot more.

 

 

What has been the strangest request you've ever received from a fan?

Oh Lord, I don't know. These things should stick out in my mind but I'm quite adept at blocking some of the worst of it all out. I feel pretty fortunate. I believe that many of my fans and followers regard me with a healthy amount of respect and appreciation. They know that, though I willingly exploit my body and image, I don't do so with the intent to degrade myself. Because I believe most understand that they know I wouldn't respond well to requests that might indicate otherwise.
