French tech company offers parents malware to out their kids

Spy Encouraging parents to keep their kids safe from online dangers is one thing, but to offer "help" in finding out if your son is gay is deplorable, Sadly, one French company has done just that,

Tech company Fireworld is offering parents a chance to infect their son's computer with malware that will not only track the sites he visits and the people he knows on social media, it will also keep track of all keystrokes and store all passwords.

It published an article on its website claiming the tool is vital for the future well-being of your family.

Family is fundamental. That’s why the sexual orientation of your children, directly responsible for the continuation of your family, is very important to you.

[This application] will help you determine whether or not your son is gay because many children prefer to be discreet on the subject.

... If you managed to hack his Facebook account, it would be just a matter of minutes to determine whether or not your son is gay.

You will perhaps never be grandparent and you won’t have the happiness to know your grandson.

Still not sure? The article offered other clues about your son's sexuality, like preferring theater and reading over sports, being fashionable, or wearing an earring.

The site did suggest you accept your son's homosexuality, before making the transphobic comment that you should be happy "he does not wear dresses and lipstick."

It didn't take long before people started complaining about the software, not only for being blatantly homophobic in design but also for the invasion of privacy.

Fireworld deleted the article and apologized.

“These two articles had the sole aim of improving internet SEO [search engine optimisation] on Google and were not intended to be read by humans,". “Know that we regret not having reflected on the consequences of this type of content, and that we have immediately withdrawn it.

"As human beings, we make our mistakes and once again the point here was not in any way to adversely affect anybody."

It later complained that the article had been created by an outside company,

The software is still being offered; it is now for spying on your kids but does not reference sexuality in any way.

The company can make up for this mess by giving queer kids software that will "infect" homophobic parent's computers with rainbow emojis and Pride screensavers.
