Trump admin continues attack on LGBT community

Donald Trump and his administration continue to turn their backs on the LGBT community.

Trump has already ordered trans soldiers be kicked out of the military. He refused to recognize Pride Month. And he has okayed the Department of Justice's new order to permit people of faith to discriminate against gays (and women, and those pesky "sex before marriage" types).

But Trump isn't done yet. He wants you to know he's the most actively anti-gay US President ever.

This week, the White House pulled its support for a historic Rainbow Flag raising ceremony at the Stonewall National Monument (pictured, above). The Rainbow Flag was supposed to be permanently raised yesterday and would be taken care of by the National Parks Service (NPS).

At the last minute, the decision was reversed. The White House did not want the pride flag being erected on federally managed land.

“This is an unbelievably petty, sleazy, transparent bit of cruelty by the Trump administration,” said activist Ann Northrop. “Evidently, we are so filthy to them and their right-wing supporters that they can’t even be associated with a few yards of rainbow fabric.”

President Barack Obama established the site as part of the NPS in 2016. 

“Stonewall will be our first national monument to tell the story of the struggle for LGBT rights," . "I believe our national parks should reflect the full story of our country, the richness and diversity and uniquely American spirit that has always defined us. That we are stronger together. That out of many, we are one.”

There's more: Trump will be the first sitting US President to appear at the anti-gay Family Research Council's annual conference, the Values Voter Summit. In fact, he will be the keynote speaker.

Last year, before being elected, he appeared at the event "our Christian heritage will be cherished, defended, protected like you've never seen before."

He will share the stage with such homophobes as GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore, Michelle "Crazy Eyes" Bachmann, Steve Bannon, the Benham brothers, and Fox News' Laura Ingraham.

This year's event will include discussions about how parents can fight against pro-trans attitudes in schools, and ways to increase evangelical influence in US politics.

The fact that this administration couldn't even okay a simple flag, a move that would have cost them so little, should seriously worry the queer community.
