Chris Pratt claims he is not defined by his homophobic church

Actor Chris Pratt, star of the latest films in the Jurassic Park franchise and the lead voice of Lego Movie 2, is firing back after Ellen Page called him out for belonging to an anti-gay evangelical church.

The fight started after Pratt was interviewed by Stephen Colbert. Pratt talked about his faith and how much it has helped him.

When The Hollywood Reporter tweeted about the exchange, Page responded: "Oh. K. Um. But his church is infamously anti lgbtq so maybe address that too?"

“If you are a famous actor and you belong to an organization that hates a certain group of people, don’t be surprised if someone simply wonders why it’s not addressed,” . “Being anti LGBTQ is wrong, there aren’t two sides. The damage it causes is severe. Full stop.”

Pratt's church is Hillsong. It is best known for pushing the "prosperity gospel," which promises parishioners that the more they give to Ihe church, the more God will reward them.

The Pentecostal megachurch isn't very gay-friendly. "Actively gay people" cannot be part of the faith's leadership, and the church openly states that it will "not affirm all lifestyles" including the "gay lifestyle." 

“It has recently been suggested that I belong to a church which ’hates people’ and is ’infamously anti-LGBTQ,'” on Instagram. “Nothing could be further from the truth. I go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely everyone.
