Playgirl's shelf life has expired

Come November, it's 35 year run as the soft-core porn magazine for women and gay men. The newly revamped website will take over where the print publication leaves off,  providing videos, pictures and editorial content for fans.

“Playgirl is going all-Web,” the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Nicole Caldwell, said. “The last print issue will be the Jan/Feb 2009 magazine, which comes out Nov. 18.”

In 2003 Playgirl acknowledged that gay men made up about 50 percent of the magazine’s readership and has reached men and women around the world, offering among other things images of nude and seminude celebs like Brad Pitt, Kevin Sorbo, and Marcus Patrick.

Fewer trees, but more wood. How could that be a bad thing?
