Titan Media has filed a lawsuit against UK-based gay video hosting website GayForIt.com, claiming $2.7 million in damages for copyright infringement and other violations. An additional 25 John Doe defendants are also listed in the complaint.
Not only was the site hosting 55 video clips from the Titan library with over 575,000 views by users, GayForIt.com used its own logo on Titan images.
Two other sites operated by the same parent company as GayForIt.com (ItsAllGay.com and JerkYourTube.com) are not being sued but have been officially warned to remove all Titan content.
“Just because the company that operates it is registered in the U.K. does not mean we will not go after them and hold them accountable,” .
Webb is hoping other producers will also take action to protect their material.
“People really need to start working together. More and more torrent sites know not to allow Titan content and have warnings to their users not to upload Titan content,” Webb said. “While this is great for us, all it does is pass the piracy burden on down the line to other similar producers.”
Hell hath no fury like a Titan scorned. You'd think webmasters would have learned that by now.
