Male celeb sex tapes: a brief history

Ahhhh, celebrity sex tapes. Seems everyone, from A-listers to Hollywood wannabes, has one.

The most recent member in the "oops, how did that go public" crowd is Jeremy Jackson, who played David Hasselhoff's son Hobie in "Baywatch."

The 27-year-old told , "Listen, this video was made by my best friend. (It's) between me and a casual sex partner, who just so happened to be a former porn star. ... This private recording becoming public kinda sucks."

The 45-minute sex tape has yet to attract any bidders. Maybe it's because he looks like crap. (A few years on the meth train can do that to ya.)

However, one new video that is attracting a lot of attention is Josh Hartnett's library sex tape. Red Light District, responsible for distributing Paris Hilton’s and Amy Fisher’s videos, is offering an impressive $500,000 for the rights to distribute it.

Said David Joseph, CEO of Red Light District, “Josh shouldn’t be embarrassed. As we’ve seen with Paris Hilton, these tapes can make a career not hurt it and since Josh is considered a sex symbol, we would expect women to help increase sales.”

We couldn't agree more. Release the tape! Release the tape!

One of the biggest celebrity sex scandals involved the hunky Rob Lowe back in the 1980s; he taped himself having sex with two young girls, one of whom turned out to be underage. This did affect his celebrity status, turning off many fans. It took him many years to reclaim his status as an A-Lister.

Perhaps the most famous tape involves Pamela Anderson and well hung Tommy Lee during their honeymoon in 1998. It was one of the first to land on the Internet and proved that, at least for rockers and big boobed B-listers, sex tapes wouldn't hurt your career. Why do we find this guy gross and hot at the same time?

Desperate for money, Dustin Diamond (from "Saved by the Bell") hoped to make some dough with his own 40-minute sex tape in 2006. Sadly (for him) no one wanted to see a grown up Screech sticking it to anyone.

Our personal fave (not that we've seen it!) is the Nicole Narain and Colin Farrell 13-minute sex tape. Although Farrell was successful in legally blocking the video's distribution, it made its way online in January 2006.

Other male stars with naughty amateur videos include Fred Durst (lead singer from Limp Bizkit), Bob Crane from "Hogan's Heroes," Scott Strapp (Creed) and Kid Rock tag teamin' some groupies, and  Verne Troyer (Mini Mein the 'Austin Powers' movies). Gee, maybe we could have saved some time by writing about male celebs who haven't  been in a sex video.
