Apple has decided it knows what iPhone users should and should not be allowed to read, and that includes old books that contain racy content. This seems to be the reason it rejected a new app called Eucalyptus, an ebook reader that enables users to obtain free, public domain books from .
As blog points out: "It's amazing to think that in 2009 a phone manufacturer wants to dictate which literature its customers should be allowed to download and read on their devices."
Apple claimed the app was " in violation of Section 3.3.12 from the iPhone SDK Agreement which states: 'Applications must not contain any obscene, pornographic, offensive or defamatory content or materials of any kind (text, graphics, images, photographs, etc.), or other content or materials that in Apple's reasonable judgement may be found objectionable by iPhone or iPod touch users.'"
Guess is a little too much for the iGeeks to handle. And here we thought Apple was the progressive computer company.
Apple says no Project Gutenberg for iPhone because some old books are dirty []
