Will Young reveals gay shame

British pop singer Will Young recently opened up about how, in spite of his recent commercial success, he is terribly unhappy.

"Last year I moved into my new house, my album went to number one and I was miserable," he said in an interview. "I'd buy houses and get nothing from it. Bought cars - got nothing from it. I've gone out and spent £5,000 in Selfridges - and nothing. I don't even wear the stuff. All those things I thought would bring me happiness, don't."

He started looking at porn to fill the void. It didn't.

"It never moved into sex addiction. For me, it was love addiction and fantasy. I was probably addicted to porn."

He said he was in no place emotionally to even consider a relationship. And much of that comes from a deep seated sense of gay shame, he revealed. 

"What I've realised is that growing up knowing I was gay from a young age, I always felt extremely ashamed. It's a cliche but it's true." 

It's good that Will is acknowledging his demons, a first step in dealing with them. Now here's a video of him dancing with a shopping cart:
